Needlepoint Canvas with Stitch Guide and Threads

July 29, 2009

We get a lot of requests for canvases with stitch guides from our customers. That’s why we recently created a category that features all of our canvases that have a “Canvas+Stitch Guide+Thread Pack” option. It’s one-stop shopping for anyone who loves to get the full needlepoint package in one quick swoop.

Kelly Clark recently designed some new pieces for the Columbus tradeshow and one of them was featured on the front page of Needlepoint Now:

At the .Com, we are now featuring the Normandy Fuchsia canvas + the stitch guide (found in Needlepoint Now) + the full thread pack!

It’s an easy way for our customers to make a stunning needlepoint piece for their own enjoyment.

The first time we saw these canvases, the appeal was instant. When they are finished, they are even better looking.

These canvases are made by two different designers currently: Canvas Connection and Linda Lahm from Whats the Point.

When finished, these little bags are great for becoming a candy bag (as we have done in the store — another excuse to have chocolate!), gift card holder for a birthday or Christmas, Christmas ornament or just a little “do da” around your home.

New Needlepoint Apparel

clutch

The Clara Wells booth at the tradeshow is an explosion of color and attractive canvas designs.

We took some pictures in June and recently received our tradeshow order! The latest additions to the line are these clutch bag bands.

Shannon from Clara Wells designs two types of clutch bags. The first style we saw in January: clutch2

The new style (shown in the first picture) is the reverse of the original clutch style.

Rather than stitch the full clutch purse, you just stitch the band that wraps around the leather and –viola! You have a new bag that requires a fraction of the usual stitching time.

Pick your leather color to match the needlepoint canvas design and create a custom clutch purse of your own.

Here are some examples of her “bucket bags” as well:

Melissa recently stitched Kelly Clark’s Blonde Mermaid and created a cute scrapbook from it!

“We are always looking for new ways to display needlepoint. This scrapbook would be fun to display with summer photos. Black or red photo albums would look elegant on a coffee table with Kelly’s Christmas Santas or Snowmen for holiday photos.

I nicknamed my mermaid ‘Farrah.’ I was in a quandry about how to stitch her hair. I used long stitches with several colors of floss, Vineyard Shimmer, Silk & Ivory and ribbon floss. I wanted the wind-blown or ‘water-blown’ hair-do of Farrah Fawcett and I think the effect turned out quite fun!”

Visiting the CanvasWorks booth at the needlepoint tradeshows is always a wonderful experience. Dorothy (the artist) features exemplary canvas designs that lend great sophistication to the industry.

At the last show, Dorothy displayed two new additions — gorgeous chess board designs and these lovely stools that are the perfect vehicle for her canvases.

Our show orders from CanvasWorks have just come into the shop, including the large runner shown below:

You’d be honored to play a few rounds of chess on this heirloom board as well:
