Amanda Lawford has been a successful needlepoint artist for decades. Her pieces are great fun to stitch and her fans are often utter devotees of her work.
At the last tradeshow we attended in June, she had more than just a few new canvases to show off — she had a new designer as well: her son.

DC Designs has great designs. Bright, easy-to-stitch, great prices — it’s a fresh way to stitch needlepoint. As he says, he wants to attract to the younger stitch with a vibrant look that you just can’t ignore! When you look at his canvas designs, you’ll see the appeal.

One of the best parts about working in a needlepoint store is that you’re surrounded by people who like to look at a canvas & imagine what THEY would stitch it with — how, what threads, which stitches, etc. It can be a great way to get new ideas!
The Boo Ghost canvas above has caught the eye of customers and employees alike.
Jo is now the proud owner of the design and mentioned stitching it in Zoo Eyes — the glow-in-the-dark thread. What a great idea and very fitting for the season!
According to Marilyn, who has used the thread in the past, the “glow-in-the-dark-ness” of the thread can be temperamental… sometimes showing up brilliantly and other times, not so much.
Now we can just imagine Jo stitching the piece and racing from a bright-lit area to a dark one to see if her ghost truly does glow…!

We’ve had a successful time with the Shelly Tribbey needlepoint trunk show these last 2 weeks!
The show ends Saturday, but you can still shop online or stop by the store to receive 20% off.
She sent a number of great canvases, but in the spirit of the approaching holiday, her Halloween has been most appealing:
